How to break bad habits and create good ones with Bob Savar
www.alainguillot.com/bob-savar/
Bob Savar has always enjoyed teaching. Earlier in his career, he was a college and high school teacher. Later, he turned to entrepreneurship and became the founder, president, and CEO of two successful businesses. In his third act, after retiring at age 65, he became interested in pickleball as a competitor, instructor, and author of many instructional books. His latest accomplishment is his new book, Breakable Habits, about how to break free from bad habits and unlock your true potential.
In this episode we spoke about how to create good habits to have a great financial life. We covered the following topics:
1. Pay yourself first
2. Track your spending
3. Live below your means
4. Educate yourself
5. Regularly review and adjust
As you can see, the ideas are simple and you probably have heard them many times, but they are not easy to implement. We speak about it, not with the illusion that we are sharing something with you for the first time, but with the hope to reinforce what you already know to be true. We hope that the conversation of two people who have learned a thing or two about habits, will inspire you to stay strong in keeping yours.
"Breakable Habits” isn't just about breaking free from bad habits - it's about unlocking your full potential and living the life you've always dreamed of. Imagine waking up daily feeling energized, motivated, and ready to tackle whatever challenges come your way. That's the power of this book. That's the promise of "Breakable Habits.”

Exactly, as soon as businesses hit a certain size, they all follow the same behaviour, firstly outbuy or destroy, local competition by going cheap by mass, and once they have a somewhat monopol, dont just make it more expensive, but keep the price just low enough that small competition cant form. And in the process kill access to individuality, or in other words, make individuality extremly expensive. And we can see this in alot of branches For example dollar general in rural areas, if i wanted to eat something else than hyper processed food on my holiday in westcliff colorado, i had to go to the local shop called lowes market, where everything costed roughly 20-30% more than dollar general, or family dollar(which is just as bad as dollar general) And this is just one example of how bad it can get, and slowly develops towards it. Loss of job opportunities due to big business not needing as many people to work as having several businesses doing the same work Quality loss, as they dont need to outcompete others The list goes on...

Great episode! I have a knee-jerk reaction to pushback against capitalism for the reasons you point out (seeing the discrepancy between rich and poor) but Mr. Norberg makes a great argument for capitalism here. And yes, ultimately, given our government (and those around the world) I wonder how many of these anti-captitalist (pro-socialist) protesters would feel comfortable giving so much power to their respective government.

Aside with the people whomnhave been with the company for years they've not been placed at such a position. Not sure why this popped up in my feed but kinda misleading. Not sure what state and time frame has 6.25 an hour and there's plenty of employees at Walmart that have been in the dame position years upon years and walmsrt busts unions all the time with lots of legal battles.

I have had nothing but a fantastic experience with the Canadian health care system and even found it easy to switch GPs when I didn't like my old one. You just have to do the legwork and keep calling around. In the past 8 years I have had neurosurgery, 4 orthopaedic surgeries, a myriad of blood tests/CT scans/MRIs and I have never ever waited more than a couple of weeks for an MRI. I broke my foot last summer and was in/out of the ER in 6 hours. I booked a hysterectomy and the wait time was a month. As someone who has a neurological condition who spends a lot of time navigating the system, I am so grateful for the amazing care I've received. I have nothing but great things to say compared to my American friends who spend hours fighting the human firewalls at their insurance companies only to still owe thousands of dollars. CIsco has an entire department of people who will advocate for their employees so that their employees don't have to sit on the phone arguing with their insurance -- and they pay through the nose for it! A colleague of my husband's lost his baby and when his wife asked for a tissue because she was crying after the loss, they scanned the box of Kleenex before they handed it to them & it cost them $5 on their bill. IDK if it's provincial because a lot of people on the QC side come to ON for care but I have never had a problem here.

I know that the QC government was complaining about all the money they had to pay out to Ontario doctors because of this but they don't do anything about it. I am sorry to hear you've had such a horrible experience.
